Eamon's journey began at the age of 15, learning the foundations of the recycling industry from the ground up within his family's 75-year legacy business, founded by his grandfather Thomas McGovern in 1950. McGovern Metals is now one of Ireland's leading Metal Recycling Firms. Spending school holidays and weekends on the active yard floor, he mastered every operational tier — from sorting, grading, and baling high-grade copper, to managing heavy container logistics and operating commercial weigh-scales. Crucially, this hands-on experience gave him a deep, personal understanding of the daily needs of commercial plumbers, electrical sub-contractors, and major construction firms.
Pioneering Digital Transformation
Recognizing that the traditional metals industry was underserved by modern technology, Eamon transitioned his real-world operational insights into the digital space. As a digital marketing and local search strategist, he completely revolutionized McGovern Metals' digital infrastructure. By architecting their modern online framework and deploying a sophisticated acquisition strategy, he drove a massive 47% increase in new B2B trade customers over a four-year period.
Following this success, Eamon engineered and launched Dublin's first dedicated real-time Scrap Copper Prices Index, proving that instant price transparency combined with mobile-first routing could completely capture a localized trade catchment area.
